October 18-20, 2013 ECE, ECT board exam POSTPONED!

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Wednesday announces the indefinite postponement of the Electronics Engineering (ECE) and Electronics Technician (ECT) board examination initially scheduled on October 19 & 20 and October 18, 2013 respectively in Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Lucena.

In the resolution released this week, PRC postponed October 2013 exams in the Philippines and in abroad due to vacancies in the Board of Electronics Engineering, leaving only one (1) member. PRC said that the Board is short of the requirement for a quorum to validly perform its duties and functions specifically in the formulation and extraction of test items/questions, examination proper and releasing of results.

Under Republic Act (R.A.) 9292, the Board shall be composed of a Chairman and two (2) members who shall be appointed  by the President of the Philippines.

According to reports, ECE Board Chairperson, Engr. Sylvia Icasiano-Marcelo passed away last month leaving only Engr. Joel B. Bajador as the only member of the ECE Board. Engineer Nestor C. Dacanay, the third member also passed away few years ago.

The Board now anticipates new appointments to the Professional Regulatory Board of Electronics Engineering. It has determined that there will be no sufficient time for the new members to formulate questions and prepare for the October 2013 licensure examinations.
